Preparing Thanksgiving with Food Restrictions

We love this time of year with Thanksgiving and other holidays just after.  There is seemingly magic in the air and lots of gatherings with loved ones.  Being with our loved ones is so important to us and I’m sure it is to you as well.  We have many fun traditions and events that we look forward to all year long.  Along with all of those joyous occasions comes food, and lots of it.  This can add stress to families with food restrictions as there are many more opportunities for either being left out or coming into contact with food that isn’t safe.  We are here to help alleviate some of that stress for you.  Our goal has always been to provide you with products that are loved by people with and without food restrictions.  One meal at one table.  It really is possible to feed everyone the same safe food and have everyone love it.

Having multiple food restrictions can also mean a lot of time in the kitchen to ensure all of the food is safe.  Let us help you plan and prepare your food ahead of time so that you can enjoy as much time with your loved ones as possible over the holidays instead of spending all of your time in the kitchen.  Many of our well loved recipes can be made in advance with little hands on time the day of your celebration.  If you ever have any questions, please let us know.  We are more than happy to help.  We have been celebrating holidays for over 16 years with food restrictions so we have a lot of experience doing it.  Be sure to get your orders in before Thursday 11/18 to get your mixes in time.

Rustic Scoop™ Pumpkin Cinnamon Rolls

Breakfast- Pumpkin Cinnamon Rolls (GF, Top 8 Free, Vegan)

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, right?!  It’s important to eat a good breakfast before you get into the baking for your holiday meal.  We think both our Rustic Scoop™ Pumpkin Cinnamon rolls and our traditional Rustic Scoop™Cinnamon Rolls make the perfect breakfast.  You can prepare them the day before and refrigerate them, then rise and bake in the morning.  Super easy and super delicious.  Both are made with our Rustic Scoop™ Sandwich Bread Mix.

Rolls  (GF, Top 9 Free, Vegan)

Most holiday meals have rolls as a side.  We have two amazing roll recipes that would be great additions to any meal.

Rustic Scoop™ Pull Apart Rolls

Our Rustic Scoop™ Pull Apart Rolls are easy to make and can be prepared the day before.  All you have to do is bake them the day of.  These rolls are soft and fluffy, yet dense like a pull apart roll should be.  Many of our customers love these and rave about them.  These are made with our Rustic Scoop™ Sandwich Bread Mix.

Rustic Scoop™ Artisan Rolls

Our Rustic Scoop™ artisan roll recipe is brand new on our blog.  They are not new to us here at Rustic Scoop™ though.  We have been making these for almost a year now and have been feeding them to everyone we know.  People adore everything about these rolls.  So often we get people asking to be sure they don’t have wheat in them because the texture is perfectly light and airy with an open crumb, and a crisp outside.  While we can’t give our magic away, we are thrilled to give you this recipe so you can bring joy to all of your loved ones too.  The dough for these rolls can be made up to a week in advance making these the perfect make ahead recipe.  These are made with our Pizza Crust Mix.

Rustic Scoop™ Stuffing

Rustic Scoop™ Stuffing  (GF, Top 9 Free, Vegan)

Stuffing is a staple side for the holidays whether you enjoy it or not.  Growing up, we honestly didn’t like stuffing.  Gasp, I know!  That didn’t stop us from making an amazing stuffing recipe for you.  You know what happened in the midst of making this recipe for you?  We decided we love stuffing when it’s made right.  Around here, we prefer baked stuffing so the top layer is crispy. Mmmm, so good!  We heard that it tastes like eating croutons with the best spice mix.  There you have it, our stuffing converted people to love stuffing that never did before.  You can make our bread weeks in advance and freeze it in slices until you are ready to make your stuffing.  This is made with our Rustic Scoop™ Sandwich Bread Mix.

Rustic Scoop™ Pumpkin Pie with Graham Cracker Crust

Rustic Scoop™ Pumpkin Pie with Graham Cracker Crust (GF, Top 8 Free, Vegan)

We know that not everyone wants to make pie crust or can find safe pie crust.  With that in mind, we created a pumpkin pie that has a simple graham cracker crust.  It comes together in minutes, is so delicious, and can be made the day before.  Our graham cracker recipe using our Rustic Scoop™ Pancake and Waffle Mix is perfect for this crust.  You can make the graham crackers as early as you want.  We freeze them and they stay fresh for a few months in an airtight container.  Then when you want to make the graham cracker crust, it really is quick and easy.

Some other items that we know you all love to eat on Thanksgiving are turkey, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, candied yams, and cranberry sauce.  Most of these items need to be made the day of, but there are some items you can prep ahead to make your day go more smoothly.

Turkey- Be sure you remember to thaw your turkey days before thanksgiving.  These big birds take a long time to thaw.

Green Bean Casserole- Sprouts grocery store has GF crispy onion rings and Walmart has a GF cream of chicken soup that is their own house brand, Good Value.

Mashed Potatoes- There isn’t a lot you can do to prepare ahead for mashed potatoes unless you make some from a box.  If that’s the case, be sure they are on your grocery list.  If you make them from whole potatoes, enlist some help from your loved ones.  We make mashed potatoes in our Instant Pot.  It just takes 10 minutes to cook the potatoes and then they are quick to peel and mash in a mixer.

Candied Yams- Sweet potatoes/yams can be cut days in advance.  Then making candied yams is super quick the day of.

Cranberry Sauce- If you like the kind in a can, that’s nice and quick.  Just be sure it’s on your grocery list.  If you like to make your cranberry sauce, it’s pretty quick to make the day of.  My husband LOVES cranberry sauce, so much that we have a running family joke about it.  That’s the item he makes every year.

No matter how much you make, or don’t make, be sure to enjoy time with your loved ones.  We have found that holiday food is much better when everyone pitches in.  Now that our kids are older, everyone takes a dish that they will make.  We all are in the kitchen together, all making our dishes at the same time.  This has brought so many fun times and memories as a family, but also makes holiday meals bearable to create.  Spread the love and responsibility for holiday food.  One thing we know for sure, we are abundantly thankful for you all.  Our business wouldn’t be thriving without you.  Warmest holiday wishes from our Rustic Scoop™ family to you and yours.
